Windows of Heaven

Windows of Heaven

I usually go for walks most mornings just praying the Word and meditating / mulling over Scripture. This morning a tear came to my eye several times as I thought on the goodness of God stored up for us. A full heart, a longing heart, and a hungry heart is a wonderful thing. I am sure you have experienced those moments of sweet fellowship.

Specifically, it was Jeremiah 31:14 - And I will satiate the soul of the priests with fatness, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, saith the LORD.

In the NLT it is:

The priests will ENJOY ABUNDANCE, and my people will FEAST on my good gifts. I, the LORD, have spoken!

I carry a little notebook. Its sole purpose is to write Scriptures out that I am focused on memorizing in my current journey of faith. This one is prominent and well underlined.

He Walks and Talks With Me

I know that Bible reading is not an Olympic sprint, you are not trying to tick a box as you get as much reading done as possible. In fact, I would rather spend a week or two slowly, with just one or two verses, and have delightful fellowship with the Holy Ghost as He opens to me the Word.

“And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?”

We need to become a people of the burning heart, in sweet fellowship with Jesus as he imparts divine wisdom into our spirit. I continually ask the Holy Spirit questions and expect answers! That old chorus (1913) still rings true:

And he walks with me and he talks with me
And he tells me I am his own
And the joy we share as we tarry there
None other has ever known

What on Earth is Satiated?

The old KJV word 'satiate' [say-she-ate] means to be 'satisfied to the FULL' — God's desire is that our souls, and indeed all of our life: spiritually, physically, and financially, be COMPLETELY overcome with His goodness. That we can see His hand in EVERYTHING and give Him all the glory!

Here is a particular usage so you get the picture the KJV is painting: 'After the lavish feast, the guests were completely satiated, unable to eat another bite.' Are we COMPLETELY SATIATED? How full are you on the goodness of God? Are we nibbling dry husks or experiencing a divine 'fatness' (love the KJV here)!

"...more abundantly" (Jn 10:10) is the focus of Jesus for us and it is the type of life he gives.

The satanic paradigm is stealing; the Kingdom paradigm is blessing.
The satanic paradigm is killing; the Kingdom paradigm is life abounding.
The satanic paradigm is destroying; the Kingdom paradigm is flourishing.
The satanic paradigm is lie after lie after lie; the Kingdom paradigm is truth.

Your soul can ENJOY THIS ABUNDANCE. It is part of the covenant of TOTAL LIFE PROSPERITY promised to you.

“What do you mean Total Life Prosperity, I do not see that in the Bible.”
Yes you do!—our beloved John said, Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”

Total Life Prosperity

I am reminded of when I was teaching in Burma (Full Gospel Bible Training Center) many years ago—one of my favorite courses I taught my 100+ students each year was TOTAL LIFE PROSPERITY.

I vividly remember one morning a student came and saw me after class and gave me 1000 Kyat (around $1)—it was not because of the amount of money, but because it symbolized something much greater. It was a beautiful moment where I witnessed the release of God's principles of prosperity in our lives.

This small act of giving was a powerful testament to the truth that God's abundance knows no bounds and can manifest in the most unexpected ways. It was a reminder that when we live in ALIGNMENT with His promises, we open ourselves up to a life of true fulfillment and joy.

I told myself on that prayer walk, "Steve, it is time to feast on the good gifts of God—to experience divine favor like never before, to know, a 'shalom' like never before, to know joy unspeakable like never before..." In fact the Hebrew concept of shalom (covenant peace) is nothing less that TOTAL LIFE PROSPERITY.

Abraham’s Faith-Seed People

THE BLESSING of Abraham (and we are Abraham’s seed—his faith-seed people) is rooted in the understanding that true prosperity is not just about material wealth (though it is certainly part of it), but about flourishing in every dimension of our existence. It is becoming effective ambassadors of His kingdom, showcasing the transformative power of a life surrendered to Him.

When we ‘consider not’ (like Abraham) our circumstances, but become ‘strong in faith’ (like Abraham), and believe that God will keep His Word no matter what (like Abraham), that he will display miracles of provision, even resurrection if need be (like Abraham, Hebrews 11:19) to establish His Covenent on the earth, then we are in good company!

The further I walked that morning the Lord reminded me of the Windows of Heaven he would open to pour out a blessing that would overflow our lives.

I stopped and said “Wow Lord, you really are amazing.”

Malachi 3 states,

Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the WINDOWS OF HEAVEN, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

Abraham was prompted to tithe to the priest Melchizedek 430 years before the law of Moses was given (Genesis 14:20). And Jacob dedicated a tenth of all he had to God 300 years before the Law (Genesis 28:22). And Jesus himself says, “…give to God what is God’s” (Matthew 22:15-22). And what does he tell the church in the very last verse of Matthew? “Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”

I simply want to observe and do the things Jesus says to do. What glory and goodness there is stored up in keeping the commands of Jesus. How precious are his words. How wonderful are his sayings.

Windows of Heaven

In responses to our obedience to the Word in giving and living life as a cheerful tither and giver, I have no problem with the tithe! We have tithed for years and years on the mission field, but only in the last several months have these verses hit home in a fresh new way.

The phrase Windows of Heaven is only used 3 times in Scripture—can you guess where the other two are? It is associated with the flood of Noah, “…and the WINDOWS OF HEAVEN were opened. And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights.”

One is used in blessing; the other is used in judgement—but the picture is unmistakable: a torrential downpour of blessing and provision and abundance (along with a rebuking of the devourer).

There is a strong correlation of the floodwaters of Noah, transforming what once was a symbol of destruction into one of unparalleled prosperity and divine favor.

Now people get all bent out of shape and saying “tithing is not for today” (and “prosperity”) now that we are under grace. And honestly, you are going to do whatever you want to do, but I tend to agree with what Jesse Duplantis says over those that refuse to tithe: “why don’t you just admit that at the heart of the issue is that you simply do not want to give”.

Grace or no grace, many times we just do not want to give to the Kingdom and bless others. We would rather withhold the money, instead of release it as a blessing to others on Kingdom assignment.

But I do know this, Lydia and I have made a choice to live a life of blessing to others and the tithe (10% of your income) is a great start! And we have seen many miracles of provision in our lives.

Increase Increase Increase

Simple fact is that I love the Word, I love the commands of God, I love the principles set forth in the Word. Yes, I have heard the ‘grace message’—and I also love the ‘grace message’. I appreciate preachers like Jospeh Prince and Andrew Womack that have restored some very needed perspectives to the church on grace. And I love to tithe and love to give. Proverbs 11:24 says

There is he that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is he that withholdeth more than is meet (due), but it tendeth to poverty.

The New Living Translation captures the essence with several succinct words!

Give freely and become more wealthy; be stingy and lose everything.

Freely give = greater wealth given.
Be a scrooge = tends to poverty.

Now religious people do not like this and get all bent out of shape, thinking that it is more blessed to be poor, remain poor, and die poor. I lived in one of the poorest nations of the world as a missionary for over 5 years—I’ve seen poor, and it is a foolish theology that says God will is not prosperity and provision. Ridiculous religious theories have irritated and stunted the body of Christ for centuries and this is one big one.

The time has come to live on a higher dimension of God’s provision.

God tells us that He will open the Windows of Heaven if we meet certain conditions.

We walk in obedience to His Word by bringing the tithe into the storehouse. That’s our responsibility. Then as we continue to walk in line with His Word we see that those windows remain open. Joy! Joy! Joy!

Heaven’s open windows are more powerful than earth’s closed doors.

That above quote is by Helen Calder’s prophetic blog.

Is there a need and desire in your life for the Kingdom? He is a good Father. What is the dream and call of God on your life that needs to see supernatural provision? He is a good Father. What miracle do you need to see happen before the end of the year? He is a good Father. What is your passionate pursuit of His Kingdom? He is a good Father.

There may be 10,000 closed doors, but you only need one open window: The Window of Heaven.

There is a miracle of provision beyond your wildest dreams in Heaven’s Open Windows. They are not dictated to by the economic situation on the planet, the disasters or famines on the planet, or any thievery or crises (”But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal.”)

Heaven’s Open Windows are full to the brim, abounding, ready to downpour a blessing that cannot be contained, to rebuke the devourer (satan) off your finances—God has shown His willingness to open the windows of heaven and supernaturally intervene upon the earth because of His great love for you.

Just as the flood of Noah affected the entire world in judgment, so too will the blessing-flood of the Widows of Heaven change your entire world. The goodness of God will overtake you! Noah’s flood changed the very nature of the planet, the Malachi flood of blessing will change the very nature of how you perceive the goodness of God.

Are you Ready?

Come on, are you ready? (and I don’t know who would not want to be ready for this!)

What does God say?

Test me in this and see if I don’t open up heaven itself to you and pour out blessings beyond your wildest dreams. (Message)

I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test! (NLT)

And test Me now in this,” says the Lord of hosts, “if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you [so great] a blessing until there is no more room to receive it. (AMPC)

Tithing to God is much more than a financial transaction; it is a profound act of faith and recognition of divine sovereignty. Whenever you faithfully tithe, you acknowledge that God is the ultimate source of your strength, knowledge, income, security, and everything you possess. This practice is a tangible expression of trust and gratitude, demonstrating a deep awareness that all good things come from the Creator who longs to bless us abundantly in this life and the next!

Why not open wide the Windows of Heaven, allow the Lord Himself to rebuke the devourer from all your finances and increase and cause abundance and provision to flow.

"But I can't afford to tithe!"
But you cannot afford to not tithe!

We have every right to possess THE BLESSING of Abraham. And the blessing is outlined in detail in Deuteronomy 28:1-14. These verses encapsulate the abundance, prosperity and security that God desires for us to experience. If we meditate on these verses daily, we can renew our minds and align our thoughts with the fullness of His Covenant blessings concerning increase.

Verse 11 in the Amplified Bible, Classic Edition tells us, “The LORD shall make you have a SURPLUS OF PROSPERITY.”

This promise is profound.

A surplus? How about a New Testament verse in support of a surplus! Read 2 Corinthians 9:8 in the Amplified Classic edition:

And God is able to make all grace (every favor and earthly blessing) come to you in abundance, so that you may always and under all circumstances and whatever the need be self-sufficient [possessing enough to require no aid or support and furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation].

And in the New Living translation:

And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.

A surplus refers to the amount left over after all requirements have been met. It signifies excess, abundance, extra, and overflow. This isn’t just about having enough to get by; it’s about having more than enough—an abundance that goes beyond our immediate needs.

Get ready for your surplus! As you do, your mindset will shift from scarcity to abundance, from worry to trust, from lack to overflowing prosperity, and from thinking your own thoughts to thinking God’s thoughts.

Picture Note: The cover art for this post is a harvester about to reap the blessing and increase of God. Consider Ruth, she was poor but when she married Boaz, who owned the field, she became an owner of the very field she formerly gleaned in as a pauper. What a great story of financial prosperity and blessing for a 'gentile bride' (a Moabite) and God’s redemptionRuth left the gods of Moab behind and chose to put her fate in the hands of Naomi’s God and His people without any idea of how things would work out. For her, there was no turning back.

I read Ruth's famous verse a few days ago, it reads like a confession of faith: "...thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God." It was like a light also came on inside my heart. A new love for the Jewish people and the God of Israel was birthed. You and I are also that gentile bride grafted into the commonwealth of Israel—Halallujah!
